I have a map turtle that has stopped eating?
and is losing weight he is not swimming anymore and spends most of his time under the lamps…..his breathing is also a little weird….mostly looks like he is trying to take a deep breath every two seconds….i have taken him to see a reptile doc but he said this was normal that he is probably getting himself ready to go into hibernation…..i don’t think so he just seems so weak……has anyone had something similar happen…..this is my kids turtle and they would be traumatized if something happened to him….any advice would be appreciated
I have 2 map turtles for 9 years and they have never hibernated or acted like that. it sounds like he may have a respiratory infection. you should find a better vet. good luck with your turt I hope he gets better
