Is it normal for a Zilla under tank heater for reptiles to make noise?
I just got a leopard gecko and bought an under tank heater for his tank. At first, it didn’t make any noise when I put it on, but ever since then, it makes an on and off buzzing sound. I read several places that it is normal for Zilla, but while reading other things, I was concerned about the number of people who said that hearing a noise from a heating pad wasn’t a good sign- and could even possibly be dangerous.
Make sure that the tank is raised up a 1/2″ or so. If you put the UTH on the tank and then rest the UTH with the weight of the tank on it on a table, it will cause problems and possibly even start a fire.
